Barisal – Bangladesh
Barisal was a former area of ??Bangladesh, but now is an administrative department. Barisal City is the headquarters of the department and is located on the delta of the river or Kirtonkhola Arial Khan, which is a branch of the Padma.
Barisal town was incorporated as a municipality in 1876 and became a public company in 2002. E ‘accessible from Dhaka, which is 117 km to the north, via Steam service, which lasts about 12 hours, and Chittagong, which is located in the southeast. After a series of bridges were built, the road trip was much easier.
In the early days was called Chandradwipa Barisal, or the island of Baklava was the capital of Mon Chandradwipa. The founder of the kingdom was Chandradwipa Danuj or Danuj Mardhan Madhav Dev. Later it became the headquarters of the district Backergunj of the British East Bengal and Assam
This city and the neighborhood is the name of a particular natural phenomenon, a loud knocking sound like a gunshot coming from the sea called Barisal Guns.
Because of its location, is easily accessible from the sea and river. So it has become an area, which is a transshipment point for rice, hides and skins, pulses, etc.
There are a number of places in and around Barisal, which will be of interest. 30 km from the town of Barisal is the Sagar Durga. This is a great lake that hosts migratory birds in winter.
Near the Durga Sagar are the ruins of a palace Zamindar. Bell Park is a vast land near the river Kirtonkhola within the city of Barisal. The park offers peace to the inhabitants of the city, from the routine of daily life Kuakata located about 320 km from Dhaka and is a beach with breathtaking beauty. In addition to this, Mohan Ram Samadhi Mandir, Sharkal strong Ebadullah Mosque, Aswini Kumar Oxford Town Hall and the church are the places to visit.
Barguna, Barisal, Bhola, Jhalkathi, Potuakhali and Pirojpur are the districts of Barisal Division which is divided. Barisal has always invested heavily in education, many premier educational institutions of the country are located here. Key among them is Sher and Bangla Medical College Hospital, Barisal Medical College (est. 1889), Barisal BM College, Oxford Mission High School (est. 1990), Udayan High School, Baptist Mission Boys School, Baptist Mission School Girl Barisal Zila School, Banaripara Union institution (est. 1889), Pinglakathi Government Model Primary School, etc.
